Passport of Raj Kundra seized over betting in IPL

New Delhi, June 6: Delhi Police had seized the passport of co-owner of Rajasthan Royals Raj Kundra as he had confessed to betting in IPL. He has been asked not to leave country till the probe of IPL spot fixing over. Delhi Police Commissioner Neeraj Kumar has confirmed about the confession of Raj Kundra. While talking with media, Kumar had told the name of Umesh Goenka through whom Kundra used to bet in IPL. Umesh Goenka is a close aide and business partner of Raj Kundra.

A Police official said, “We have seized Kundra’s passport so he doesn’t go out of the country till the spot-fixing probe is over. We will be questioning him further.”

Official also said, “Kundra’s role is very important in the Rajasthan Royals team. We are yet to decide on his arrest. It will be known only after further questioning.”

A Police source claimed that Raj Kundra was into betting and not in fixing. Their questioning was basically onto betting. The questioning of Raj Kundra and his partner Umesh Goenka was more then for 10 hours on Wednesday. Kundra’s business partner may be again questioned under the connection with spot fixing. Trivedi claimed that Goenka had approached him and sought detail about pitch in Ahmedabad and about team formations, sources said.
