Rahul Gandhi got a notice of defamation from AGP

New Delhi, June 6: “If the Congress vice president fails to apologise, we will seek a compensation of Rs 500 crore for damaging the reputation of the party whose members were involved in the six year Assam agitation against foreigners.” These are the words of Asom Gana Parishad’s youth wing president Kishore Upadhyay for congress vice president Rahul Gandhi who remarka that the party came to power for the second term in Assam with the support of insurgents. Youth wing of AGP had sent a legal notice to Rahul Gandhi to offer him an apology for his purported remark on Wednesday.

Prafulla Kumar Mahanta, the president of AGP, had also earlier said that his party strongly condemned Rahul Gandhi’s comments and was consulting with experts for taking legal action against congress vice president.

Upadhyay said, “We have given Gandhi 15 days to respond to our notice failing which we will initiate a criminal defamation case against him.”
Chief Minister of Assam, Tarun Gogoi had also support his statement by saying that AGP had links with insurgent groups and thre statement of congress vice president Rahul Gandhi was correct that the party came to power in the state allegedly with ULFA’s help.
According to a report of wikileaks which was published in last month in media, in 2006 Rahul Gandhi had reportedly told a US diplomat during his father late Rajiv Gandhi’s prime ministership (1984-1989) in India, they had given a separatist group a chance to form the government in Assam and the US should also follow the same model with Hamas.
