Rajnath Singh consulted Advani before Goa meeting about elevation of Modi- Source

New Delhi: Senior Leader Lal Krishna Advani wanted Narendra Modi as a chief of election campaign committee in 2009. It is confirmed by a source very close to Advani. Source also said that BJP party president Rajnath Singh was the person who was not agree with the elevation of Modi in 2009.

After this news, it is sure that Modi is not the reason for the dissatisfaction and unhappiness of Advani.

Even party president Rajnath Singh consulted Advani much before the Goa national executive meeting, and he had suggested that former party president Nitin Gadkari should head the election management committee along with Modi.

Source said that the political divorce of JD-U is not so much against Modi as a person but it is against the BJP strategy of projecting him as the man who will win the 2014 election for the party. Popularity is not the only instrument for winning an election, says the source reflecting clearly the thinking in the Advani camp. There is also the crucial aspect of acceptability.

He exclaimed that party should go without a prime ministerial face into the 2014 election.
He said that if Modi is projected, then the Congress and others will turn the tables and make it into a secular-communal issue.
