Lalu Prasad’s Tejashwi ready to hit the political pitch

tejaswi-yadav_bigPatna: Tejashwi yadav is a batsman, whom the Indian Premier League gave the opportunity to play against many international, world-class players”. Now, the 24-year old Tejashwi Yadav, Lalu Prasad’s son, is all set to take a different field and faced with a political googly as a CBI court held Lalu guilty in the fodder scam. With only a few years experience in politics, mainly as an aide standing by his father, it remains to be seen how Tejashwi handles this political googly as Lalu faces disqualification as Member of Parliament. On Monday, he was by Lalu Prasad’s side when the RJD chief was convicted by the court.

Tejashwi, one of the nine children of Lalu Prasad and Rabri Devi, has already been anointed by the RJD chief as his successor. However, Lalu faced opposition from a much unexpected quarter over this move as, say sources; Rabri wanted their elder son Tej Pratap to be the successor. Stories of differences between Tejashwi and Tej Pratap are common in Patna. During the Parivartan Rally held in Patna in May this year, the two brothers locked horns over the size of their posters. Finally, Lalu had to issue a diktat that both their posters should be of same size.

So it is highly likely that Tejashwi, the willow wielder, may have to handle the political catapult along with some of the party seniors such as Raghuvansh Prasad Singh. Tejashwi had actively participated in the 2010 assembly election campaigns with his father. In the Parivartan Rally, he slogged for hours looking over the arrangements.   It will indeed be a big change and challenge for a man who, just over one-and-a-half years ago, was a part of Delhi Daredevils team in the IPL.
