Modi pays tribute to first PM Jawaharlal Nehru on his 50th death anniversary New Delhi: The nation on today remembered the country’s first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru on his 50th death anniversary with several senior leaders paying homage to him.

NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today paid tributes to Jawaharlal Nehru on his death anniversary.

Soon after assuming office Modi tweeted to pay respects to Nehru. I pay my tributes to our first Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru on his ‘punya tithi,” Modi tweeted on Nehru’s 50th death anniversary.
A large number of Congress workers and school children also paid homage to Nehru. Devotional songs were played and an all-religion prayer meeting was organised at the memorial.  Nehru, who was born on November 14, 1889, died on May 27, 1964.
