3 US troops killed in blast in Afghanistan

3 US troops killed in blast in AfghanistanAfghanistan: The NATO-led International Security Assistance Force, or ISAF, which is stationed in the US, however, released a statement confirming that three service members lost their lives following an improvised explosive device attack. The US government is yet to provide detailed information about this incident.

The nationalities of the victims were not revealed by the ISAF in its statement. The Taliban was ousted by US-backed forces in 2011 as a result of the military offensive which the US and other western nations launched in the Asian nation after the September 11, 2001 attacks on the United States by al-Qaeda.

Though the allied forces managed to wipe out Taliban from most of the districts of the war-torn nation, they are slowly regaining in strength and it is feared that the militant group could return to power after the exit of US forces from the country.  It is to be noted that the US forces will start withdrawing from the country by the end of this year.
