Police resort to lathi-charge after protest turn violent in Bangalore Rape caseBangalore: Karnataka police had resort to lathi-charge after the protesters turn violent on Monday while protesting outside Vibgyor High School in Bangalore. The protesters including parents of the six-year-old child, who was being raped in school & ABVP activists were protesting.

A scuffle broke out between the protesters and police after the former attempted to break barricades. The police then had to resort to lathi-charge to dispel the protesters.

A protester alleged that “We were peacefully protesting, we wanted the management to come out and respond to us about its inaction in this case; but police here manhandled us, they manhandled our women protesters, no women police staff are present here.”

However a police official said, “no one was pushed or manhandled, we were just trying to restrain them. Adequate woman staff is present here.”

The incident took place on 2 July and highlighted on 14 July after police had lodged the complaint. The police had arrested a skating instructor Mustafa in connection with the alleged rape of the six-year-old student on Sunday.
