TMC MP Abhishek Banerjee generate fresh controversy over JU student’s protestKolkata: The Member of Parliament from Trinamool Congress and nephew of West Bengal Chief minister Abhishek banerjee had generate a fresh controversy after giving a statement over the protest of the students of Jadavpur University. He, on Monday, questioned whether the student protests in Jadavpur University (JU) were due to banning of drugs and liquor inside the campus.

In a post on social networking site Facebook, he said, “Is this protest due to the banning of drugs, liquor and charas?”

The comment comes in the backdrop of JU students protesting on the streets of Kolkata demanding the resignation of the VC, the Pro VC and the registrar of the varsity in the wake of alleged police assault of students in the early hours of September 17.

Notify that thousands of students had marched through the streets of the city on Saturday and demanded for the resignation of JU vice-chancellor Abhijit Chakrabarti and West Bengal governor K N Tripathi intervened to end the four-day old stalemate in the prestigious educational institution.
