Shameful: UP Police blames mobile phones, vulgar advertisements for rape cases

Shameful UP Police blames mobile phones, vulgar advertisements for rape casesNew Delhi: Uttar Pradesh police had again showed its shamelessness by giving controversial statement over increasing rape cases and crime against women in state.

The Uttar Pradesh Police had blamed mobile phone culture, bad influence of western culture and indecent dressing sense among women as reasons behind it.

The observations were part of a reply to a Right to Information query.

Police officials in Firozabad observed that outrageous sense of dressing by women is attracting men towards them with wrong intentions.

Moradabad Police however blamed television and vulgar advertising for increasing rapes and crime against women in state.

“Some police stations said it is because of electronic gadgets, some blames mobile phones and some said it is because of lack of entertainment. This is utterly irresponsible,” said RTI applicant Lokesh Khurana.

On the statement of state police, IPS Amitabh Thakur said, “Whoever has made this comment, is trying to hide their own failures. Things will change as times change, but that does not mean that someone gets a right to commit such acts against women.”
