PM Modi’s poll promises were hawabaazi, says Sonia Sonia at CWC meeting

PM Modi's poll promises were hawabaazi, says Sonia Sonia at CWC meetingNew Delhi: Congress president Sonia Gandhi today slammed Prime Minister Narendra Modi accusing him of not fulfilling the poll promises and saying it has become clear that he was only indulging in “hawa baazi” during the election campaign, which have reduced to “unedifying flip-flops casting doubts on what he really stands for”.

It has become painfully clear that most of the promises by the PM during poll campaign were nothing more than ‘hawabaazi’, said Gandhi at the Congress Working Committee meeting during which a resolution was passed to give her one-year extension as Congress president.

Commenting on the withdrawal of the Land Ordinance Bill by Modi, Sonia said, “The U-turn on the Land Ordinance is evidence that the government is out of touch with ground realities. The Modi government has failed abysmally to match words with deeds, to match media events with actual accomplishments.”

The economy is on a downward slide while prices continue on their unrelenting rise. As for promises such as the creation of jobs or slogans such as Make in India, the less said about them the better,” said Gandhi. The Congress president also blamed the BJP for threatening the media, saying, “The media is being threatened with notices and other repressive measures.”

“The security situation in our neighbourhood has deteriorated considerably. Instead of a coherent policy on Pakistan, this Government can’t seem to make up its mind on what it should do,” said Gandhi commenting on the Indo-Pak relations.

She also lashed out at BJP for its three-day BJP-RSS meet last week. “The country last week was given clear evidence of what is obvious for a long time. The Modi government is controlled and directed by the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh.
