50 Congress MLAs suspended from Gujarat Assembly over Una protestAHMEDABAD: Amid suspension of the entire Opposition from the House, the Gujarat Assembly on Tuesday passed the Goods and Services Tax (GST) ratification Bill. Before the Bill was introduced, members of the Opposition Congress were suspended from the proceedings after a ruckus over the assault on Dalits at Una by a cow vigilante group.

The row began when senior Congress legislator Raghavji Patel raised the issue of atrocities on the Schedules Castes in the State and asked what action the government had taken against those who had assaulted Dalits in Una and those returning from the Dalit Pride March.

As Minister of the State for Home Pradipsinh Jadeja was responding to the query, Leader of the Opposition Shankersinh Vaghela demanded a probe by a High Court judge.

This prompted the Opposition members to stand up and raise slogans, holding placards that dubbed the BJP government “anti-Dalit.”
