Post-surgical strike, villages from Punjab to Kashmir evacuated as govt prepares for all eventualities

Punjab: Villages bordering Jammu and Kashmir and Punjab are being evacuated in view ofIndia carrying out surgical strikes on terror launch pads across the LoC.

Villages in Pathankot and Attari sector and near International Border are being evacuated, as per ANI.

As per reports, additional BSF troops have moved in these areas.

Further, with six districts of Punjab sharing boundaries with Pakistan, the Centre asked the state to evacuate people residing in villages within 10 kms of IB.

The schools in the border areas have also been asked to remain shut until further orders, as per officials, PTI reported.

Earlier, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh spoke to Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal  over telephone today to request him to immediately start the process of evacuation of the people.

Following this, Badal directed the Chief Secretary and DGP to ask the concerned Deputy Commissioners (DCs) and Senior Superintendents of Police (SSPs) to oversee the entire evacuation process in the border districts of Ferozepur, Fazilka, Amritsar, Taran Tarn, Gurdaspur and Pathankot.
