Delhi Police arrested Two persons from Rajasthan on the charge of possessing & passing on classified defence related documents to pakistanNew Delhi : Two persons from Rajasthan have been arrested by the Delhi Police on the charge of possessing and passing on classified defence related documents to Pakistan.

Maulana Ramzan and Subhash Jangir were in touch with the Pakistan High Commission here and passing on classified information to some of its staff members. However, the High Commission staff suspected of having links with them have been let off because of the diplomatic immunity, said Ravindra Yadav, Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime).

An agent of Pakistan’s espionage outfit ISI, who was in touch with the two, has been identified as Mehmood Akhtar, he said.

Foreign Secretary Jaishankar conveyed to the Pakistan High Commissioner Abdul Basit that Akhtar, a High Commission staffer, has been declared persona non grata for espionage activities.

Police said he will be deported to Pakistan within 48 hours.

The Delhi Police’s Crime Branch was on the trail of these suspects for at least a week before they swooped down on them. The arrested men are currently under interrogation at the Chanakyapuri Police Station.
