I-T dept attaches 12 plots of Tejashwi Yadav, Misa Bharti, Rabri DeviPatna : The Income Tax Department has brought charges under Benami Transactions Act against Rashtriya Janata Dal chief Lalu Prasad Yadav’s ex-chief minister wife Rabri Devi, daughter Misa Bharti and Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejaswi Yadav.

The department also attached 12 plots belonging to Bharti, her husband Shailesh, sister Ragini and Chanda, Tejashwi Yadav and Rabri Devi. Records show that the properties attached are worth more than Rs 9 crore.

The development came less than a month after the Enforcement Directorate arrested Rajya Sabha MP Bharti’s Chartered Accountant Rajesh Agarwal in a corruption case.

The Income Tax Department raided at 22 places in and around Delhi in connection with alleged “benami” property deals involving Yadav and his children Tejashwi Yadav, Health Minister Tej Pratap Yadav and Misa Bharti on May 23.

Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Sushil Kumar Modi claimed last month that Bharti had laundered money through a shell company to buy a farmhouse in New Delhi at a throwaway price.
