Rajinikanth not to launch political party, asks fans, people to forgive himNewDelhi: In a surprising turn of events, Tamil superstar Rajinikanth on Tuesday (December 29) announced that he will not enter into politics. Rajinikanth made the announcement just two days before he was expected to make his much-anticipated political announcement.

Rajinikanth said that this decision will disappoint his fans and people of Tamil Nadu and he requested them to forgive him.

“Without entering electoral politics, will serve the people. This decision of mine will disappoint my fans and people but please forgive me,” he said in a statement today.

In his statement, Rajinikanth mentioned about his recent health setback and said that nobody feels as bad as he does, at this moment.

“If I meet people and get infected, then the people who have followed me would struggle and they would lose money as well as peace,” he added. 

Rajnikant noted that he would do all service to people without contesting elections. “If I contest, I can’t win the elections just by promoting on social media and television,” he said. 

He also said that there’s a new wave of Covid and how he’s at high risk owing his kidney transplant, being under immunosuppressants. 

It may be recalled that Rajinikanth had set up the Rajini Makkal Mandram in 2018 and it was widely expected that he would announce his political party on December 31. The launch was scheduled for January. The Assembly election in Tamil Nadu are scheduled to take place in May-June.

Rajinikanth was admitted to Apollo Hospitals in Hyderabad on December 25 and discharged on Sunday (December 27). Rajinikanth has been advised “complete bed rest” for a week, “minimal physical activity” and to “avoid any activity that increases the risk of contracting COVID-19”.
