The National Investigation Agency (NIA), along with personnel from the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and Jammu and Kashmir Police, conducted search operations in Shurat village of Kulgam district and in Guloora area of Handwara of Kupwara districts on Monday as part of an ongoing investigation into the Delhi bomb blast.
According to official sources, the NIA team carried out searches at the residence of Mohammad Shafi Bhat, son-in-law of Abdul Aziz Bhat, a resident of Shurat village in Kulgam.
The operation was conducted in connection with a case of the Delhi bomb blast being investigated by the agency.
NIA teams also raided the residence of a businessman in the Guloora area of Handwara early this morning in connection with the Delhi Red Fort blast case.
Officials searched both premises and examined documents and devices.
Earlier this month, a Special NIA court at Patiala House extended judicial custody for seven accused, including Dr. Shaheen Saeed, Mufti Irfan, Dr. Adeel Ahmed, Jasir Bilal Wani, Dr. Muzammil, Yasir Ahmed Dar, and Nasir Bilal Malla.
The accused appeared via video conference, after which Special NIA Judge Pitambar Dutt extended their judicial custody by 15 days. At the March 11 hearing, NIA reported investigation delays from pro-Ayatollah Ali Khamenei protests in Jammu and Kashmir.
Two accused, namely Tufail Ahmed Bhat and Zamir Ahmed Ahangar, were held for five days in NIA custody. The court has already extended the period of investigation by 45 days.
The two Jammu and Kashmir residents were arrested for their alleged links to the Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind (AGH) terror outfit for “supplying weapons” to the prime accused. In a statement, the NIA said both the accused, namely Zameer Ahmad Ahangar of Ganderbal and Tufail Ahmad Bhat of Srinagar, are active over-ground workers (OGWs) of the AGH, taking the total number of arrests in the case to 11.

NIA arrested Aamir Rashid Mir first on November 16, followed by Jasir Bilal Wani, Mufti Irfan Ahmed, Dr. Muzammil Shakeel, Dr. Adeel Ahmed Rather, Dr. Shaheen Saeed, and Soyeb on subsequent dates.
