Italy: Two Indian men were shot dead in Italy’s Covo in Bergamo province, local media reported on Sunday, April 18, 2026. According to reports, the incident took place on Friday when the two were leaving a warehouse used as a Sikh place of worship during a gathering for Vaisakhi festival.
According to La Sicilia newspaper, the attack took place shortly before midnight near Gurdwara Mata Sahib Kaur Ji, located in the town’s industrial area.
The two deceased Indian men have been identified as 48-year-old Raginder Singh, and 48-year-old Gurmit Singh. The gunman reportedly fled the scene in a car after firing multiple shots.
According to preliminary findings, investigating authorities have ruled out the possibility of a sudden brawl that escalated into bloodshed, according to the report.
Around ten shell casings were recovered from the crime scene as authorities investigate the theory that the killing of two were the result of a “coldly planned execution”.
An eyewitness told reporters that the assailant was “an Indian” who also regularly visited the gurdwara, adding that a third individual was grazed by the gunfire.
An official Vaisakhi celebration had been scheduled to take place nearby on Saturday, with participation from local institutions.
Further invetigation into the matter is still underway for establishing the main motive of the accused.
