The Police Commissioner has strongly denied any wrongdoing and hit out at the ruling AAP for levelling “baselesss allegations”.
The Vigilance department will file a petition in court along with its probe report seeking registration of an FIR against Bassi under Section 200 of CrPC for allegedly acquiring a flat in ‘Lucky Home Cooperative’ society of Rohini illegally, sources said.
Registrar of Cooperative Societies, from which Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia had sought details on the issue, has also ordered the “demolition of illegal construction in the flat of Bassi’s brother Ravi Bassi in Rohini.
“Vigilance department conducted an inquiry and found out that wrongdoings were committed. The department will now submit the probe report to the court. The probe found Bassi guilty. The government will seek appropriate action against the police commissioner,” sources said.
They said Registrar of Cooperative Societies (RCS) has found illegal construction in the flat in Rohini which was sold to his brother Ravi by Bassi.
After RCS report, the area SDM today issued an order to domolish illegal construction in the flat, sources said.
They said that municipal corporation will be asked to raze the unauthorised construction erected in the flat.
“The government can move court directly under Section 200 of CrPC,” sources in Delhi government said.
The Police Commissioner and AAP government have been at loggerheads on a number of issues.
During the winter session of the Assembly, AAP MLA Saurabh Bharadwaj had alleged that Bassi got a flat in the Lucky Cooperative Housing Society by flouting rules and in collusion with officers of the registrar of cooperative societies and the managing committee of the society.
Bassi, however, asserted that the property in question is “purely legitimate and was lawfully acquired”. The AAP government has indulged in a “vicious propaganda”, he had said.
Bassi admitted enrolling himself as a member at the housing society in Rohini in 1989, following which he purchased a 980 square feet flat there for around Rs 2.30 lakh. For the purchase, he even claimed to have taken a departmental loan of Rs 2 lakh.
The commissioner said that he later sold the flat to his brother and there was no misappropriation with regard to evaluation of the property and stamp duty connected therewith.
After a few years, Bassi purchased a flat in a housing society at Greater Noida and claimed that he did not flout any norms. The AAP had alleged that Bassi violated law while buying the second flat.
