Walking, jogging, running best medicines to keep diabetes away

29well_physed-tmagArticleNew Delhi: Just by adapting a healthy lifestyle one can remain immune to diabetes, which has become so common in our country now-a-days that we are recognized as World’s Diabetic capital, said Rohit Raikwar, the winner of ‘Indore-Walk for Diabetes’ run organized here on Sunday morning. The run was organized to spread awareness among Indoreans about the silent killer and discuss ways to keep away from it.

More than 450 people took part in the 3.3 km run which was flagged off from Synergy Hospital, Vijay Nagar and after passing through Meghdoot Garden, Sachidanand Street culminated at the hospital. 16-year-old Rohit secured first place and followed by Amar Yadav and Mohit Sharma. “People of all age groups participated in the run.’Patient education and health awareness’ were the main purpose of the run,” said Dr Anil Bhatia, President of Indian Medical Association’s Indore chapter.

“Walking, jogging and running are the cheapest medicines through which one can be untouched by diabetes,” said Dr Sandeep Julka. Dr Bhatia and Dr Arun Agrawal flagged off the run at 7:45 am. The run is being organized for the last seven years to spread awareness about the rapidly increasing numbers of diabetic patients in the world and particularly in our country.
