Maburai: BJP leader and former Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister K S Eshwarappa and other BJP senior leader said today welcomed KJP chief B S Yeddyurappa’s decision to return to the party fold and expressed confidence of defeating ruling Congress in the coming Lok Sabha elections.
Congress could win in the last assembly election due to split (caused by Yeddyurappa’s exit) in the BJP, he told reporters here after offering worship at the famous temple of Goddess Sri Meenakshmi Amman along with his family members.
He said Yedyurappa had expressed his wish to join the BJP with the sole goal of making Narendra Modi the Prime Minister. Eshwarappa, also a former state unit BJP President, said he was confident that the party would win 22 out 28 Lok Sabha constituencies in Karnataka.
Maintaining that a Modi wave” was blowing across the country, he said after the victory of the BJP in three states, the Gujarat Chief Minister’s popularity had increased.
Yeddyurappa, credited with leading the BJP to forming its first ever government in the south in Karnataka, had yesterday said he would return to the party which he had deserted to form the KJP more than a year ago.
