PM Manmohan Singh to campaign for LS election in Assam todayGuwahati: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh will today visit Assam to support the Congress candidate in Dibrugarh Lok Sabha constituency.

Though 80-year-old Manmohan Singh has officially declared that he would not seek a third term, yet he will be campaigning for the party in Assam from where he has been a Rajya Sabha member.

On March 27, Rahul Gandhi had addressed public rallies in Kohima, Tezpur and Dibrugarh in the state where he was felicitated by Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi.

While addressing people here, the Gandhi scion said that Gujarat model is not applicable everywhere and that Assam does not need Gujarat model, but needs the Assam model.

He further added that the growth rate of Assam has increased in Congress regime when compared to the figures during the BJP-AJP government.

Assam has 14 Lok Sabha constituencies. The state will go to polls on April 7, 12, 24.
