Mumbai: The past few months have been particularly traumatic for Emraan Hashmi after his four-year-old son Ayan was detected with a tumour this January.
The actor flew him down to Toronto for treatment and while Ayan was undergoing therapy Emraan shot for movies like Mr. X and Raja Natwarlal.
The actor admits that getting back to work while his son was battling a serious illness was the most difficult thing in the world. “You need to switch gears and focus. I shot both Raja Natwarlal and Mr. X for a month in South Africa, while Ayan was getting treated. Throughout his illness, I managed to hold fast to the belief that everything will be all right.
According to Emraan, this was the toughest time of his life and his wife and son were his biggest strength. The actor recently spoke to the media to say that his son’s treatment is almost complete and that he’s brought Ayaan back to India. In his words, “He’s healthy and back home now.
While we wondered whether his son’s illness kept him away from awards functions and promotional events, Emraan made it clear, “I don’t look at award ceremonies to validate myself as an actor!”
