General Secretary Amit Shah set to be announced as BJP president

General Secretary Amit Shah set to be announced as BJP presidentNew Delhi: BJP general secretary Amit Shah’s elevation as the party president is as good as final and an announcement can be expected any time, according to party sources.

Amit Shah, a close aide of PM Narendra Modi, has been in charge of the party in Uttar Pradesh where the BJP won 71 of the 80 Lok Sabha seats.
The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh senior leadership met in Chittor, Rajasthan, on Wednesday to discuss the issue. RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat’s decision will be considered final.

Besides Shah, Bharatiya Janata Party general secretaries Jagat Prakash Nadda (Himachal Pradesh) and P Muralidhar Rao (Andhra Pradesh), and party leader Om Mathur (Rajasthan) were considered for the post.
Shah, 50, an accused in the Tulsiram Prajapati fake encounter case, is a close aide of Modi.  A section of BJP leaders acknowledge his contribution in ensuring a huge number of Lok Sabha seats for the party in the 2014 General Elections.

Nothing deterred the Gujarat strategist from scripting major victory for the BJP in Uttar Pradesh in the Lok Sabha polls.

Very hard-working and with an amazing intuitive power, Shah is called by state BJP chief Laxmikant Bajpai as a “modern-day leader who can connect the dotted lines on the political landscape” and deliver an amazing, tailormade kit to the party.

He understands the polity so well that he has answers to almost every question of the workers and is indeed a master strategist,” Bajpai had earlier told a news agency.
