CBI to investigate Mohanlalganj murder caseLucknow: The Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Akhilesh Yadav had recommended the 35-year-old woman murder case of Mohanlalganj to Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). It had been alleged that woman was brutally killed late on 16 July after she resisted rape bid but as the forensic report on Sunday had claimed that she was raped and more than one people were involved in her murder which had raised serious questions over police investigation.

The UP CM summoned the DGP and Chief Secretary and reprimanded them over the lackadaisical approach of the investigating officials who were involved in the case. Several organisations had come forward in support of the victim’s family demanding CBI probe in the matter.   The victim’s family had received threat in the case which has put pressure on the probe officials. The children of victim had also joined dharna for CBI probe.

Later on Sunday, the Lucknow Police had said they have received two reports from the Forensic Science Laboratory in connection with the murder of a 35-year-old widow in Mohanlalganj area and claimed that these reports do not contradict their finding in the case.

Senior Superintendent of Police Praveen Kumar said, “Seven forensic reports were to be received in Mohanlalganj murder case, of which, only two have been received so far and on the basis of which any conclusion cannot be drawn. I can say that the two reports received so far are suggestive and not conclusive. I can say that these reports do not contradict our finding so far.”
