#Specialcourt frames charges against #MadhuKoda in #Coalscam, 8 othersNew Delhi: A Special Court on Friday framed charges against ex-Jharkhand CM Madhu Koda and 8 others in a coal scam case. The Court also framed charges against ex-Coal Secretary H C Gupta and ex-Jharkhand Chief Secretary A K Basu in the case.

There had been charges against the nine people in a case pertaining to allocation of coal blocks to Vini Iron and Steel Udyog Ltd (VISUL) in the mineral-rich state’s Rajhara town. Earlier, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) alleged that Koda, Gupta and the others conspired to favour VISUL in assigning the coal field.

The other accused against whom charges were ordered to be framed were former Jharkhand Chief Secretary Ashok Kumar Basu, two public servants — Basant Kumar Bhattacharya and Bipin Bihari Singh Vini Iron and Steel Udyog Ltd (VISUL), its director Vaibhav Tulsyan, Koda’s alleged close aide Vijay Joshi and chartered accountant Navin Kumar Tulsyan.

The court ordered that charges under relevant provisions of Prevention of Corruption Act were made out against five public servants — Koda, Gupta, Basu, Singh and Bhattacharya.
