Gujarat civic polls 2015 : BJP leads in Urban Area and Congress leads  in Rural areas #Ahmedabad: While counting of votes for the crucial local bodies’ elections in Gujarat is under way, till 12:30 pm, Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) was leading in all the six municipal corporations in the state while Congress party was leading in most of the taluka panchayats.
Voting for the six municipal corporations was held on November 26, and for 31 district panchayats, 230 taluka panchayats and 56 other municipalities on November 29.

So far results have been in favor of BJP in Ahmedabad, Rajkot, Bhavnagar and Jamnagar municipal corporations where the party is almost in winning position. It is also in lead in Surat and Vadodara municipal corporations.

These are the first major elections in the state after Anandiben took over from Narendra Modi. The elections are being seen as a challenge for the BJP and the Chief Minister Anandiben Patel, as they come after the Patel quota stir.

BJP is not doing well in district panchayat and results are coming against it. Till the first round of counting, Congress party was leading 21 district panchayats out of 31 in the state. Morbi, Surendranagar and Amreli districts turned out to be victory points for Congress Party for district and gram panchayats in Gujarat. Chief Minister Anandiben Patel’s home Kharod gram panchayat also saw Congress winning the seat.
