Harvard Business School  (#HBS )  to launch senior executive leadership programme in India #Boston : Harvard Business School is set to launch an executive education programme in India which honours students with alumni status. India is the second country after China where HBS has such a programme, underscoring the country’s growing importance for the graduate business school.

The Senior Executive Leadership Program-India (SELPI) is a one-year programme aimed at accelerating the expansion of leadership capacity for growing businesses in India and beyond. The programme, which begins on July 17, has a fee of Rs 30,00,000 plus service tax. The programme has the potential to attract 10-15% of the intake number from outside of India.

“We are expecting 60-70 participants in this programme in India. This programme will have close to 10 faculties with a mix of Indian-origin and across,” said Das Narayandas, who is the chair of executive education at Harvard Business School and chair of Harvard Business Publishing. At the end of the programme, executives will earn the rights and privileges of Harvard Business School alumni, joining a vast global network of business executives.

“It is the first time that we are offering a course like this. This programme is unique for Indian executives who are looking for deep immersive experience in India and a learning with a large group of similar high-achieving leaders from other Indian firms,” said Narayandas. Contextually, the programme is designed for India but the content is global. Though it is similar in content to some of the programmes the school runs in Boston, it will be distinctive in the classroom experience that they are creating.

“It is the right time to offer this because of the growing need that we have identified overtime. We are, in fact, responding to a defined growing need in the Indian market,” said Narayandas. The programme is split into four dynamic modules that take place in Boston and Mumbai, which helps reduce the time an executive to remain out of work.
