Indian embassy granted visa to the Pakistani bride and her family for the Wedding function in IndiaJodhpur: After nearly a month of uncertainty, Naresh Tewani of Jodhpur will wed Priya Bachchani of Karachi on Monday.

This follows the intervention of external affairs minister Sushma Swaraj who ensured that the Indian embassy in Pakistan granted visas to the bride and her family for the function.
Jodhpur lad Naresh was engaged to Priya of Karachi for the past three years and had scheduled their wedding in Jodhpur on November 7.

But delays by the Indian embassy in Pakistan in granting visas for the bride and family had cast a shadow over the function. Finally , with the date drawing near, the groom had tweeted a request to Swaraj to intervene and arrange visas for 35 members, including the bride, of the Pakistani family to attend the wedding.

“We are thankful for the quick response of the minister. All the 35 members got their visas to come to Jodhpur, though, in two parts,” said Naresh.

Priya and her family reached Jodhpur on Sunday and were engaged in ceremonies ahead of the wedding on Monday . “I am very happy that everything has gone on as planned and we are enjoying the ceremonies here,” said a beaming Priya.

The groom’s father, Kanhaiya Lal Tewani, said that they had applied for visa well in time keeping the wedding schedule in mind. “We started preparations accordingly, right from arranging accommodation for them to sending invitation cards.

But when there was a delay in obtaining visas, and we halted preparations and focused entirely on getting the same issued by the Indian embassy in Pakistan,” he said. Learning how Swaraj had responded quickly to such issues, the family decided to seek her intervention. “We are happy that the same held true in our case as well,” he said. While some members of the bride’s family came through the Wagha border, others took the Thar Express.
