Arun Jaitley asks Congress to make its stand clear in Rajya Sabha over Insurance Bill

Arun Jaitley asks Congress to make its stand clear in Rajya Sabha over Insurance Bill New Delhi: Finance Minister Arun Jaitley had asked Congress to make its stand clear over Insurance Laws Amendments Bill in Rajya Sabha. During the all-party meeting, Jaitley told Congress leader to either approve or reject the amendment in Rajya Sabha but clear its stand.

Finance Minister had made it clear that the NDA government would not accept Congress’s stand of waiting and buying time on the Bill.

Sources added that the Centre is unlikely to accept Select Committee proposal for now but the final decision will be taken in the next round of meeting which is likely to be held in the next two days. Opposition parties had demanded a consultation with a select committee after the government made 11 new amendments to the Bill.

The meeting had been attended by Finance Minister Arun JAitley and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Venkaiah Naidu from the government’s side.

The parties which attended the meeting included Congress, TMC, BJD, JDU, AIADMK, SP, BSP among others.

But the all-party meeting to resolve the deadlock was inconclusive. Nationalist Congress Party leader Praful Patel said that parties would meet again in the next two days to discuss the possible formulation of the Bill.

Notify that BJP government is in a minority in the Rajya Sabha and needs the Congress’s help to pass the Bill.
