Gandhinagar: Maulana Mehdi Hasan said media in Rustampura village today Garba is not religious festival but a festival of demons (rakshasha). Garba festival is joined by Rakshashas. Maulana Mehdi Hasan suggested that Navratri festival celebration should be discontinued.
Maulana Mehdi Hasan is same maulana who offered skull cap to then Chief Minister of Gujarat Narendra Modi and when Modi refused he made an international issue out of it.
Imam Mehdi is facing atleast two police complaint that are filed in Nadiad(West) and Thasra police station. Attempt of Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Shiv Sena workers to file more complaints against Imam Mehdi Hasan failed as Ahmedabad’s Gomtipur and Ranip police stations only agreed to accept application and not complaint.
In a fresh development, an advocate has today filed case against Imam Hasan in Bhavnagar court.
Vishwa Hindu Parishad has threatened actions if Imam is not arrested by police. Imam meanwhile has gone underground.
